The most exclusive CH Explorer to date
Drawing many an admiring glance, the third Cruising Home Explorer 1500 was often seen along the waters of the Frisian coast over the past month as we put her through a stringent testing regime. And we’re pleased to report that the performance was optimal with everything working exactly as planned.
After a few final touches are made we will deliver the most exclusive and comprehensive Cruising Home project to date to her demanding owners. They requested ‘superyacht standards of luxury’ and every conceivable amenity to ensure a first-class experience on longer trips in complete comfort. View the stunning images and video here.
The cruising capabilities of the Explorer 1500 are comparable to any motoryacht currently available in the 15 to 20-metre range. Sailing comfort, safety and efficiency were paramount for the designer Olivier van Meer and you can certainly see that in the results. Like the Explorer 1250, the 1500 has CE category C certification and is designed to sail in coastal waters, estuaries, bays, lakes and rivers with winds up to force 6 on the Beaufort scale and a maximum wave height of 2 metres. The main engine gives the CH Explorer 1500 a cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum speed of 9-10 knots. Download all specs and general layouts here.
As a reference point, the Explorer 1750 ‘Ibiza,’ the Explorer 2000 and the Explorer 2400 have CE category B certification and are suitable for open seas.
Superyacht levels of luxury
The first thing you’ll notice when stepping onboard an Explorer 1500 is the 360-degree panoramic vista. The large windows provide fantastic views and generate a real sense of space, something that can be further emphasised by lowering the side windows. The automatically controlled pleated blinds ensure complete privacy when desired. Control is simple using a smartphone, and the same applies to many other features onboard that are fitted with demotics home technology.
Built into the ceiling, a large TV screen automatically lowers into its prime central position in the saloon. The high-end kitchen-diner is exceptionally complete and features lovely dark wood cabinet doors that are also scratch-resistant. A table with a bench for enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner together also serves well as a working surface with expansive views.
30% more space
A key factor that makes the Explorer series so unique is the two-deck arrangement, which provides a whopping 30% more interior space than other houseboats of the same length. Two spacious double suites are located on the lower deck, each with plenty of storage and their own bathroom and shower. See the images here.
A soundproof door leads to the engine room, a haven of order and cleanliness that exudes quality in addition to powering a superb performance. Like all Cruising Home models, enormous attention has been paid to indirect comfort. Good insulation ensures that engine noise, vibrations and resonance are eliminated and further facilitate the air of serenity onboard.
